Important Notes On Choosing A Therapist
From Hands On Therapy & Little Tiger Tai Chi

Regardless of where you live, choosing the proper therapist is important. Little Tiger Tai Chi Studio serves the Greater Lehigh Valley Area but we felt it so important, we are offering you some advice on considering a therapist.

Remember: 90% of therapists do not follow proper protocol for therapy. They have taken the classes but have not studied nor practiced the techniques. At Little Tiger Tai Chi, we pride ourselves on meeting the protocol and proper application of technique to ensure you of treatment for mind and body.

Note! A great background on paper doesn't mean a great therapist. Conversely, a great therapist may not have a great background on paper. Some things such as innate feelings and gift of touch can't be taught. Many forms and areas of study do not give certificates.

Please keep in mind that the terms "certified" and "Master" may not hold much weight. There are MANY schools that hand out weekend, short term, or video tape "Master" or "Certificate" programs. These can be DANGEROUS to your health. Verify how long these courses actually were. Consider: Do you really want a therapist with 20 hours of training, who is now a "Certified Master"? Can you speak to the people who gave the testimonials?

    Ask Yourself These Questions:

    • Has my therapist ever had me fill out a case history form or questioned me in detail about my complaints, injuries (past & present), job, hobbies, etc.?

    • Has my therapist ever asked me what medications I'm taking?
*If not, they may be performing a therapy that is contraindicated. That means they may be risking injury to YOU! There are many reasons that different therapies should not be performed.

    • Has my therapist ever performed a gait analysis on me?

    • Has my therapist ever performed a posture analysis on me?
*If not, they may be missing vital pieces of information pertinent to your care.

    • Do you find yourself sore or bruised for days after treatment?
*This may be a sign of the therapist palpating deep tissue improperly.

    • Has my therapist ever taken the time to sit down with me and show me on charts where my problems are or explained to me why I feel the way I do?

    • Are you rushed in and out like a number at the deli counter?

After thinking about these questions, perhaps you need to rethink your strategy for therapy!
